USGC and Chipd In announce alliance

Glen Ellyn, IL, December 27, 2021 – The United States Golf Challenge (USGC) and Chipd In announced today that Chipd In’s unique tournament format will offer additional qualifying opportunities into the USGC King’s Cup National Championship beginning in 2022. Chipd In offers competitive golfers the opportunity to compete against players of their own skill level across the country simultaneously on their home course (or any course) through their Joan L. Kidd MD Fight for Life Golf Series powered by Chipd In.

Each Chipd In event has a three-day window for golfers to play one round; points are awarded to the golfers in order of finish. During the days of play for each event, there is a live leaderboard that shows in real time how they are playing against golfers all over the country.

At the end of each series of events (6), the top 50 golfers in the accumulated points standings are qualified for the USGC King’s Cup National Championship. With two Series, Spring and Summer, a total of 100 players from the points standings are invited to the USGC King’s Cup National Championship.

At the USGC King’s Cup National Championship, teams compete in one of four flights in two Divisions (Open and Senior) to represent Team USA at the International King’s Cup™ held in Ireland.

The International King’s Cup is a team match-play event played in honor of golf’s greatest ambassador – Mr. Arnold Palmer, whose Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship and Commitment to Excellence represent the ideals for which the game of golf is known.

“Chipd In’s unique format solves a problem that we have long sought a solution to”, says Trudi Mank, USGC National Director, “it gives players in areas that may not be able to support a stand-alone USGC National Qualifier the opportunity to still attempt to qualify for the USGC King’s Cup National Championship and making their way onto Team USA.”

About Chipd In - Chipd In was originally started in 2009 by a group of friends interested in playing competitive golf and giving back to their community in the Washington, DC area. At first, it was just three roommates trying to figure out who the best golfer among them was in their DC neighborhood, but it quickly turned into an association of dozens of members, joining up together to play a season of tournaments. In the more than a decade since launch, we’ve crowned over 10 annual golfing champions and even taken major championships on the road to the “Home of Golf” to play at The Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland.

In 2021, we took our most ambitious step yet and launched an even larger community in order to reach our larger fundraising goals. We decided to go national, allowing golfers from around the country to compete with each other for a bigger cause in both friendly tournaments throughout the year, as well as an in-person National Finals. Scoring is net so whether you’re a scratch golfer or struggling to break 100, nothing quite matches the thrill of participating and making a positive impact in the tournament series community.

Our Mission: To connect golfers everywhere to help make a positive impact in the community while making access to competitive golf much easier and convenient.

About the USGC - The United States Golf Challenge (USGC™), America's sole representative to the International King's Cup is entering its 8th season as America’s premier team event. The USGC will conduct over 20 National Qualifying events around the country with qualifying teams playing in the USGC King’s Cup National Championship in September 2022 culminating in the selection of Team USA for the 2023 International King’s Cup.
