Fun Golf Vacations Tournaments Become Official USGC National Qualifiers in 2021
Glen Ellyn, IL, August 24, 2020 – The United States Golf Challenge (USGC) and Fun Golf Vacations (FGV) announced today that the highly successful Fun Golf Vacation tournaments held annually in the Palm Springs area will become official USGC National Qualifiers beginning in 2021.
The 3rd annual Palm Springs Golf Championships, Jan. 10-14, the 20th annual Battle in the Desert, April 24-May 1 and the 7th annual Shootout at PGA West, May 2-6 will be part of a nationwide series of qualifying events leading to the 2021 USGC National Championship. FGV will also develop additional qualifiers in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest.
The Championships are flighted individual stroke play events and the Battle and Shootout are flighted two-man best ball events. They are played at PGA West and the LA Quinta Resort and Club courses as well as at premier private Coachella Valley courses. 15% of the Championships field qualifies and 30% of the best-ball fields qualify for the USGC National Championship, with the winning teams in each flight (minimum 12 teams) earning free entry into the USGC National Championship.
At the National Championship, teams compete for one of the eight 2-person teams emerging from the two age (open and senior) divisions’ 4 flights. The eight teams win an expense paid trip to represent the United States in the International King’s Cup™ held in Ireland.
The International King’s Cup is a team match-play event played in honor of golf’s greatest ambassador – Mr. Arnold Palmer, whose Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship and Commitment to Excellence represent the ideals for which the game of golf is known.
About Fun Golf Vacations - Fun Golf Vacations (FGV) was established in 2000 by two childhood best friends who traveled the country playing in various golf events together. During a trip to Palm Springs, they came up with the idea of organizing a two-person, week-long, best-ball event, at PGA WEST and La Quinta Resort & Club, that could become something very special.
